Blaire’s Story

Blaire Baxter, Naturalist

Blaire has worked in the field of education for 12 yrs. She holds a teacher’s certificate in Early Elementary Education and spent several years in the classroom teaching 4th & 5th grade along with Art/Art History and as the After-School/Summer Camp Director. She also holds a CDA (Child Development Associates) for Birth-4yrs, certificate for Project PREPARE (for an inclusion classroom), certificate for Mississippi Building Blocks (specializing in early literacy), and became ITERS & ECERS certified while holding the position of Assistant Preschool Director.

She has always had a huge place in her heart for the outdoors.  She received her Master Naturalist certificate, and began her journey as a Nature Educator almost 6yrs ago. She is certified with Project WILD, Growing Up WILD, Wonders of the Wetlands, Private Eye, and a few other nature curriculums that have great little pearls of wisdom. She fondly remembers growing geodes with her Grandma and going to Wildflower Club meetings at Weeks Bay Estuary down in Baldwin County, AL. Her favorite childhood memories were made outside, so her goal is instill that same kind of love in her child and others.

She and her husband Christopher and their daughter have lived in Athens, AL for a little over 4yrs now. They enjoy sailing, gardening, and finding treasures along the many trails they take. She currently holds the position of Educational Coordinator at Joe Wheeler State Park creating programs for their youngest naturalists! We are thrilled to have her as a new team member and look forward sharing her skills and passion with the Butterfly Outdoors community.
